Hermann, born in Germany with an extensive family backround discovered the Finger Lakes in the 1960’s, where the cool climate and gravelly soil reminded him of the Mosel Valley, Realizing the untapped potential of the Finger Lakes region he started to grow classic European vines along selected sites on one of the most prominent properties in the Finger Lakes

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard Estate Grown wines are established from traditions of excellence and have a reputation of creating exceptionally lush, crisp and well-balanced wines. Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard is founded on the philosphy of quality and hand crafted wines. Located on the shores of Seneca Lake the well drained sloping shalestone bedrock and Honeoye silt loam soil lends itself to the production of what critics consider to be some of the best grown Rieslings in America.
