SPRUCE MOUNTAIN MEADERY is located at the foot of Spruce Mountain just south of Larkspur, Colorado. The smell of the pines, the rustle of the aspens, the serenity of the deep snow, and visits from the local wildlife create the perfect atmosphere for developing our exceptional meads.
We are a ‘micro-winery’ handcrafting our meads in small batches. We got our taste for meadmaking while travelling in Europe. We were fascinated by the many family wineries creating unique wines and we loved the taste of the local mead. We combined the two experiences, and Spruce Mountain Meadery was born.
Each of our meads is made from the finest ingredients available. Mead is historically referred to as the ‘nectar of the gods’ or ’ambrosia’, and the essence of this nectar comes from the honey, water, fruits and spices that go into the mead. We pasteurize our meads to retain the essence of our ingredients, and we don’t add sulfites out of respect for our friends with sulfite allergies.
We are reviving the ancient art of making mead with all of its mystery and nobility. Please come and visit us soon to sample the ancient beverage of kings…
