Ashley, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, present our 2007 Napa Valley Meritage. Our Meritage is based on 65% of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Tucker Vineyards in Coombsville area of Napa. We complete the wine using a blend of Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cab Franc wines.
This wine is the first Meritage produced by Canine Wines. All of the component wines come from the Napa Valley. We started with a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Coombsville area that providesa deep red color with purple hues. We then blended in the four better know “noble” Bordeaux varietals, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. This produces a wine with earthy, black truffle aromas with notes of tree bark, raspberry jam and smoky herbs. The wine has a rich, velvety feeling for the mouth and tastes of raspberry torte with hints of earthiness and dark chocolate.
