As the saying goes, great wines come from awesome grapes. The 2007 Barbera is true to form. This vintage is softer in acid than years past, thus the “drink ability” will be sooner than later. As the wine ages, the acidity will mellow a bit. The Barbera variety always shows bright and copious amounts of acid, it’s in the grape, which is why this varietal is also fantastic as a blender. We at Chumeia love acid in our wines…acid is necessary to fill out the mid palate and amplify the aromas in wine. Don’t be afraid of flavor!
Pair this vintage with basil & tomato pizza and orecchiette pasta with caramelized onions and blue cheese.
