Crane Vineyards is on the northern border of the Carneros appellation. hot days, cool nights and long hang time define this district. Crane Syrah was a winner from the first vintage in 1999. Since then, the quality of the wines produced from this vineyard have only gotten better. The 2006 is no exception. Dark color, full and ripe fruit and an acidity that is almost viscous in its texture are hallmarks of this great wine. classic Sonoma Valley Syrah at its best. Matches well with traditional fare: grilled or braised lamb, rare duck breast over an open fire, grilled eggplant or winter vegetables.
