Vineyard Notes from Winemaker Craig Becker
My goal was simple; to make the best possible wine the vineyard could produce. To do that, I needed to concentrate the fruit and improve the quality of the tannins. This was accomplished by reducing the vigor of the vines, reducing the crop load, and limiting the available nutrients to the vine; basically growing smaller vines. A single vineyard wine is made in the vineyard. Unlike many other wines that are vineyard designated, the Cross wine is unblended and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a true expression of a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville.
