This wine is dedicated to Domenica Paganelli, the grandmother of my wife Donna. Domenica immigrated to the United States from Northern Italy thru Ellis Island in 1915. She settled on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan where she and her husband Francesco made some of the first wines in the New World.
Ripe and cured black cherries with lingering tobacco box, supple cocoa and violets introduce this enticing Merlot dominated Right Bank Bordeaux blend. Chewy velvet tannins balance the subtle sweetness of Hungarian and French oak. Early summer thyme and a kiss of cracked black pepper beckon dinner for two or a late night cigar.
