Donna DiStefano, our “donna maria”, is the granddaughter of Domenica Paganelli who immigrated to the United States in 1915 from Northern Italy. Domenica and her husband settled on Lower Eastside of Manhattan where they made wine for the family in their basement. Donna and her family continue this family tradition making wine every year to be enjoyed by her family but now extends to old and new friends. We hope you enjoy this wine!

The Donna Maria has always been a proprietary Rhone-style blend with focus on Syrah. This current vintages is made from two harvests – 2005 and 2006. The Grenache and Syrah varietals complement each other so well, that we couldn’t resist, but add a little Grenache to this year’s blend, which made it a smooth medium bodied wine. Plumy and spicy aromas on the nose with a little vanilla and chocolate notes. Dark fruit and refined tannins on the palate, very smooth on the finish.
