In 2006, we began to explore the subtleties of making and growing Sauvignon Blanc
by defining the best clones and sculpting a wine style that would be reflective of
our estate. Our search for a vineyard source for this white, Bordeaux varietal lead
us to grower Truman Clark, great grandson of Cyrus Alexander, the founder of the
Alexander Valley. We continue to work with Truman Clark to farm a small vineyard
block of Sauvignon Blanc from his family’s original homestead.
Vintage Notes
The young vines woke up to a very dry and frosty spring. Summer was mild with a
toasty August that encouraged ripening and led to an early September harvest. Yields
on Sauvignon Blanc were small and the fruit, packed with varietal character, arrived
to the winery in pristine condition.
