Purple in color with a touch of cinnamon glaze around the rim, our 2006 Syrah is rich in varietal character. The nose has layers of soft blackberry fruits, plum, a touch of coffee and overtones of caramel and vanilla. Second tastes reveal Middle Eastern spices, pepper and Corinthian leather. The finish of this 100% Syrah is soft, lengthy, and enriched with soft, approachable tannins. Barrel aged for 35 months, bottle aged for an additional 5 months. Unfined and unfiltered.
Winemakers Comments:
I have been buying fruit from Harry and Mike since I was a home winemaker. The have over the years improved their fruit as I have refined my method of producing wine from their vineyard. This particular vintage is a prime example of that evolution. Big and bold in style yet a smooth enough finish to elude clouds passing over your tounge. I am excited about this vintage, more so than the last, and almost as much as the next.
