Vintage Notes

Our Barbera is from the Pauli ranch, a vineyard planted by the Mondavis just north of Ukiah on the Valley floor. This benchland vineyard lies in an old river bed with gravely soil, which helps to produce a full-flavored Barbera. The 2007 vintage was of great quality and less quantity. Flavors were intense. An ideal growing season producing smaller clusters.

Fermentation Notes

The grapes were handpicked late in the season on October 11, then rushed to the winery. Cold soaked for three days, then fermented in open tanks and punched down twice a day. Barrel aged for twelve months in 30% new French Hungarian oak barrels.
