Reminiscent of ripe Chassagne Montrachet or even Russian River. The 2007 Peconic Bay La Barrique Chardonnay delivers mineralities, citrus and hints of tropical notes with hazlenut and toast playing a lesser role. Creamy without being cloying, the wine truly offers a high level of varietal correctness and true perfection for the chardonnay lover.
Vintage Notes
This wine is the result of creative clonal blending of ripe, healthy grapes from an excellent vintage. This produced a broadly complex and aromatic profile coupled with soft and creamy mouth-feel. Weekly yeast stirring during the four month exposure to new French Oak insured the viscosity. It’s fruit sweet nature belies the fact that this wine is bone dry. La Barrique is a true classic showing just the most subtle kiss of oak and the long flabors that are the hallmark of such wines.
