A product of the Geneva New York research stationís grape breeding program, the Traminette grapeís parentage includes the Gewurtztraminer grape from Alsace. The resulting hybrid is more winter hardy than the Gewurtztraminer parent. If Traminette is grown correctly with a lot of sun on the fruit, the wine made from it is indistinguishable from Gewurtztraminer with its spicy fruitiness. In the wine making process we hold this grape overnight (after crushing and destemming) before we press it. As a result the wine has a deep yellow color reminiscent of the grapeís skin color and has enhanced varietal characteristics. This wine is great alone and with seafood and chicken dishes.
