People visiting tasting rooms probably get tired of hearing “great wine is made in the vineyard.” But it’s really true! A very appealing factor in this particular block of Mourvèdre is that it’s grown on land that has never been farmed before. This is the ultimate pairing – a beautiful varietal that expresses old-world characteristics grown on land that has never been cultivated. The vineyard sits at 1300 feet above the Yakima Valley floor, a perfect place to slowly ripen in the sun.
We aged the hell out of this wine. As anxious as we were to get it in the bottle, every time we tasted it was obvious that the wine wasn’t quite ready. We ended up aging this single-vineyard Mourvèdre for 20 months in a mixture of new and seasoned barrels before lightly filtering and hand-bottling. We are proud that this is one of the first single-varietal bottlings of Mourvèdre released from Washington State.
This is a wine that bridges the flavor gap between Syrah and Malbec while being food-friendly and something new for your palate. Please experience our Mourvèdre as we intended. Pair it with succulent meats or game. Above all, remember that this is wine that is meant to be enjoyed with others!
